I had a bit of a rest day, cycled about 15kms moderate intensity. I have been getting the most amazing spring water from the stream beside the road I ride past to & from home.
It’s just sooo alive! Water is a living element & it needs to be free & jumping, twirling, swirling, churning everywhere! I can feeeel the difference after I drink it, extremely invigorating. Its important to ‘purify’ the water within us, peeps who use words like ‘I love you’ & ‘thankyou’ have beauty-full water within.
Isn’t it amazing how we have roughly the same amount of water in ourselves as the planet does? Well its not really that amazing to me as I know we are just mini versions of Gaia anyway.
Ok so now onto teeth. I noticed there have been a few discussions on various rawfood forums about teeth problems so I feel it’s an appropriate time to talk about teeth!
The fruit always gets the blame when it comes to teeth issues, I can understand why peeps think this because that’s what Dentist’s have been telling us since we were bubs. Unfortunately just more propaganda & fruit-bashing.
I used to think that fruit was the culprit as well until I became low fat raw vegan and didn’t get anymore issues… Honestly I’m not even trying to ‘hype up’ the low fat lifestyle or anything like that, I’m just being 100% honest and i know many peeps who do this lifestyle 100% and don’t have any issues either.
In the past 2years I may have ‘felt’ my teeth in a negative way maybe once or twice, slight pain that lasted an hour or so, when did I have it? Immediately after a dried fruit and nut meal. Dried fruit is very sticky hence it clings to your teeth, in our cavities etc… combine this with rancid nuts (ones we didn’t pick fresh ourselves) and sometimes we can run into problems…. this isn’t the case every time but it’s the only time I’ve ever had any minor issue.
When we eat nuts & seeds small particles remain in the crevices of our teeth. The acid formed in the mouth after eating nuts has been documented. From what I gather acid waste products that corrode tooth enamel is a metabolic byproduct of the bacteria that digests the dried fruit, this bacteria is highly acidic. If our teeth are subjected to these acidic conditions continually then tooth decay results. Also I would rethink your diet if it is high in complex carbohydrates (like pasta, rice, bread etc), these foods a long with dairy & meat are very acid-forming.
So the big culprit with tooth decay (& osteoporosis) is highly acidic food choices like meat, dairy and grains. After eating these foods the body has to leach the mineral calcium from our teeth and bones to neutralise the acidic environment created…excess acid in the bloodstream can lead to a host of health issues not just teeth erosion. Also coffee & other intense acids like softdrinks can erode your teeth. Fluoride in our tap water has also been identified as a culprit. Refined sugar products like lollies etc are teeth-rotters and have to go too.
For best teeth ofcourse I recommend peeps eat a properly combined low fat raw vegan diet (that’s 98% fruit in my case & 2% greens roughly). If this is not your diet of choice then I recommend you reconsider eating meat, dairy & grains especially if you are having teeth issues…
Also be aware that dried fruit is not an optimal food choice, it’s great as a ‘sometimes’ food or for emergencies but generally I suggest you reach for the high water content fruits. I never recommend anyone eats rancid nuts, they are just too acid-forming, sometimes they are 5years old or more before they hit your lips! We need to keep the acid/alkaline balance in check. I hear different levels but I believe our PH has to be in the range of high six-low seven. Fruits are all very alkaline on the body when eaten in their whole water-rich state.
On the ‘teeth-cleaning’ front…I haven’t used toothpaste in over 3years, all I use is a toothbrush and water once or twice a day. I may swirl water in my mouth after fruit meals but generally not.
For those of you who didn’t see my dear friends teeth, I will post the pic again, he was a high fat/protein raw meat eater…you can see the results created from an overly acidic environment for yourself…
Ok that’s it for now, have a lovely fruity day!
